Does that mean it’s better to spell your name in Kanji than katakana? I just started learning Japanese this year, but applied to be an ALT this coming August. is being a “gaikokujin” really that bad?
Nah, it’s not that bad. I mean, not like you have a choice, right? Spelling your name in kanji likely wouldn’t fly on official documents anyways (unless you have an actual Japanese, Chinese, or Korean name). It’s more feeling like you’re a part of the culture. It was a symptom.
